I'm going to agree here, MBP+cheap PC would likely be the best all around solution.

I think Bluetooth wasn't added to maintain battery life. Honestly, how much battery can you put in that tiny little thing ? I am somehow amazed it goes for 2 days and 1/2 sometimes and 60% of the time I use it with Nike+

For $10 all you'll get is my grandma's dildo & a thank you note.

:D I too, am sick of all these smart a$$ replies like the one you got for the $10 offer. Sheesh. I don't know why people even waste their time!

Heat wise the sticking with the G3 chip makes sense, I would love to see an iBook with a G3 900mhz and a 32meg ATI card. The t-books are to fragile, my Mac tech/sales guy has had to replace hinges, keyboards etc on those ;\

Oh well, only time will tell ;]

However, if you want to wait a little while longer ATI will be releasing their next core soon.

The next core (R520) will be amazing with core graphics! It can even help decode H.264 video. It will be a very nice step up from the current R420 core.

But who knows if/when the Mac version will be released, and then who knows if/when Apple will offer it as a BTO option.

In the meantime, yes, go with the X850. If you do any gaming on the Mac at all, then ATI is pretty much a no-brainer.

Finder is able to make a copy and not remove the folder you copy by simple drag & drop or using CMD+C to copy the original folder and CMD+V on the external HDD.
Or do you want something different?
You also could use CarbonCopyCloner (http://www.bombich.com) or SuperDuper (http://www.shirt-pocket.com/superduper/superduperdescription.html) to make a 1:1 copy of folders, the source will not be deleted.

Is it a DVD-R or a DVD+R? The Pioneer built Superdrives are -R and BilL Gates is looking to go +R for the PC side, so I wouldn't be surprised if this sony drive is a DVD+R.

CS4 was a nightmare on my Mac, so I couldn't wait for CS5. But it's been pretty underwhelming for me. While the Adobe apps no longer crash continually, they are really sluggish in SL. PS images opened faster on my old PowerMac G5 with CS1. Even GIMP running through X11 is faster. Flash is still an incomprehensible mess, and getting worse instead of better. I don't know where to lay blame for Adobe's products, but in the end it only will hurt Apple. When I see others running CS5 flawlessly on a PC, I start to think maybe it's time to switch back....

Both Flash CS5, Photoshop CS5 as well as Lightroom 3 works AWESOMELY on 10.5.8 (haven't had a chance to test other stuff properly)

When I say awesomely I mean not a single crash so far, speed has improved drastically and I also haven't noticed any bugs either...

So don't think about Windows - its horrible OS - just go back to 10.5.8 :)

    3 1/2 years, no mini recovery :(
Sounds stupid, but how did you pay them?

If you've paid by credit card call your card company. Often they'll hold payment on your behalf, and it's amazing how much clout they have with companies.

If you're RAC and 90% of your customers (happy or otherwise) pay by CC you can't afford to piss VISA off. At the moment the RAC owe you say 200 while the RAC are owed ~200,000 by VISA on behalf of people like you, who's got more power to resolve this issue?

I once spoke to a chap I know who was in huge debt and asked how he slept a night. He said if you owe a Bank 100 you're screwed, they won't try to help you, but if you owe them 100,000 they're screwed and will bend over backward to help.

He who holds the purse strings holds the power.

Wolfram Alpha, the online computational knowledge engine that launched in May, now has an app available in the App Store. According to its App Store description, the app "plugs directly into Wolfram|Alpha's supercomputing cloud to deliver the unrivaled power of the Wolfram|Alpha knowledge engine to the mobile environment."

While the app still requires an internet connection to work, it includes a special keyboard to make the entry of special characters for mathematical and other functions easy. An early review (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10377493-233.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=iPhoneAtlas) by CNET describes that the app makes all output, which are provided as GIF images even when the service is accessed through Safari, show well on the iPhone's screen and that queries can be bookmarked and published via Twitter.

The app's price is what garners quite a bit of attention - it costs $49.99 [App Store (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=334989259&mt=8)] while the Wolfram Alpha site is free to use when accessed through a web browser, including Safari on the iPhone, and is most likely targeted at power users who need frequent access to the service for complex computations.

I got my development job from learning PHP, once you start being able to hook into databases and write "real" functions (something that imo javascript isn't much good for) then you can do some really cool stuff :)

I agree with this. I did web design work for years and never learned how to write javascript from scratch. I would find a script online that was close to what I wanted and knew enough about coding syntax in general to be able to modify it to fit my needs. I think making dynamic web pages that are easy to maintain is more important and php is an easy language to learn to accomplish this.

Is this code would do? Anything wrong in this

    m_myWindowController = [[MyWindowController alloc] initWithWindowNibName:@"Settings"];
    [m_myWindowController close];

@AlphaDogg - OF COURSE they could see the logic board corrosion when they went to replace the inverter board and the display. The logic board is the MAIN component in the machine and manages the display, among other things. They have to detach the display cables from the logic board before they start replacing any other components.

But aside from that, I have heard many stories about water spills being the best sort of spill you can have with your Mac. Sometimes it my dry out if you quickly discover it and leave the machine out to dry and other times it might not.

hminks, try turning on the machine after a day in the cupboard (definitely don't want to cook that thing out in direct sunlight). If the machine still isn't working, then your logic board may be kaput, as well as some other components. But that doesn't necessarily mean that your hard drive is gone so all your documents may be recoverable.

I wish that was possible. But commuting to school full time, going even a week or two without a computer isn't that possible.

you should copyright the photo and sue the company immediately if they try to steal it.
no really just send the a picture of you holding the printed picture in dark light, then edit the picture to a very low resolution

OSX shields you from getting into some of the nuts and bolts of things. This can be good or bad depending on whether you like to delve into such stuff.

I find that I still use windows because it does some things better, so I haven't lost any of the bits of knowledge.

The same can be said for using Unix or Linux, I used to use fedora quite a lot and so now, I'd be hard pressed to know the various yum parameters to install an app.

Given time you'll notice some of the short cuts and stuff that makes life easier in OSX, and if you move back to windows, you'd soon forget those as well.

I would say keep it, there is not guarantee that the dual cores are coming. I know if I sold a machine like that and found out nothing is coming till Intel... I would be a bit upset.
