Guys ... please help. I am trying to get PCC from my local police station and they are giving me hell time here... and I am running out of time. The local police station guys are saying that they will only give a letter in white paper (No letter head) and they are insisting that it will not be used. What shall I do and I have to submit my documents by tuesday by latest.....
Questions for friends around
1.. is the letter given by the local police station with out the letter head will e accepted in the Consulate?
2.. If not can we get a PCC from the commisioner office?
Please give me some directions.
Normally PCC is always issued on plain white paper with Police stamp on it and it should be sufficient.
Process is --> apply at local Police Station > They come and verify your home address ( take signature from 2 neighbours ) > they send it to local deputy commissioner office for his signature
If you want it quicker - just keep running along with your application at all stages. I got it done on the same day
I have 2 PCCs - one from SFO consulate and another one from Delhi Police.
Both are on plain paper with stamps and signatures - so it should suffice. Also they know what to write. You cannot dictate them or make them write what you want.

No. If you receive the CPO email, then approval is guaranteed, whether the online status changes or not. For some people, including my two dependants, there was neither the CPO email nor the status change, but the cases got approved.
That's exactly what happened to our AP cases last year. No online updates but, got the APs in the mail.

I went to Ottawa, Canada in January for visa stamping. I got Visa done.
On that day, I had seen most of the people attended for stamping are indians. Everyone was given visa.
Stamping is pretty easy at Ottawa. They dont ask you much questions. If one has all the required documents for visa stamping, its very easy to get stamping at ottawa.
Good Luck for your stamping.

I had applied for an extension for my parents, just a month before their I-94 was about to end. According to the law (as per my attorney, forums, Internet), they could stay here legally until a decision is made, which may be past the I-94 expiration.
So, in your case, if the decision is Positive, then they can stay until the new I-94 date that USCIS gives them. However, if the decision is Negative, then they have 30 days from the date of the decision to leave the country without being deported.
Hope this helps...
If the extension is denied the person falls out of status immediately and the visa get voided.

Question: Our B-2 extension was denied and the denial letter was received after I-94 departure date. We have a 10-year multiple-entry visitors" visa. Should we apply for the visa again?
Answer: The B-2 visa stamp would remain valid if one departed prior to the receipt of the denial. If the person remained in the U.S., awaiting the decision, then s/he is out of status and unlawfully present as of the date of the extension denial. This would void the individual"s multiple-entry B-2 visitor"s visa in the passport, and require a new visa application at the U.S. consulate abroad in the person"s home country for the next trip to the U.S. This is under section 222(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. If there was a timely departure prior to the decision, the individual attempting to return to the U.S. later, and wishing to use that B-2 stamp, needs to show maintenance of valid B-2 status in the U.S. and proof of departure before the denial decision by the USCIS, by submitting a copy of the airline ticket, boarding card, and other details at the time of all future entries into the U.S. in such a situation.Mar-15-2010.

Yes, rates may be different if you are H-1B Vs GC holder. I had taken insurance through an agent recently and he suggested to go for a combination (Universal Life + Term). ULI works differently, its like a savings account, meaning you can always take the premium you paid after 10 or 20 or whatever period you choose (with interest rate). Their interest rates are same as ING or HSBC. Ever wonder how much money we are wasting with Term over a period of 20 or 30 years?

I understand your frustration, but its like holding IV responsible for getting your GC - that does not seem right.
Contributing now is important; and after getting gc's, its equally important to support the people who are still stuck in the process.
Yeah I agree, I'm a regular donor anyway. If my GC is getting delayed, then for every year after 2012 I would cut my rent by 100-200 a month :) All other expenses too.

Has anybody done that?
Questions;
1) Will the old 140 be valid (for using the PD) even if the old employer withdraws/revokes the old LC/140? Big corporation, so I thought that would be a standard procedure?
2) Has the new job title and responsibilities be very similar to the old one?
3) Has the new LC/140 to be filed before the old one is cancelled inorder to keep the PD?
4) is there any memo/law that allows us to keep the old PD once a 140 has been approved (even if it is revoken)?
It is clear that a new LC/140 has to be done once you change the job. So any other information is welcome.

First of all, whats' the situation?
Are you still waiting for LC, may be from BECs?
what's the reason of RFE, if you are currently working for the same employer?
I don't know how you can get approval by going through company B, which you can not get with Company A.
Please give more information and certainly someone can help you quickly
Gurus/Attorneys,
My current 8th year H1 is valid until end of May 2007 from employer A, we applied for 9th year ext and got a big RFE. As a backup, can I transfer my H1 to employer B and get 1 year extension (until May 2008) based on my approved labor from employer A ??
Any inputs/suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

hi thank you once again.
my project is not that much long term project . after completing project again i have to go for " X " location only . In this recession time getting project in same place is very tough and then for every project we cant move our whole family but we single persons can adjust and stay with some friends in that project location.
I said i moved not we all. sorry for that i might have tell you clearly before . i thought if i write everything its looks like bigger matter. so for suggesting me some guys cant take that much time to read full thing. so i mentioned only important things. anyway i really appriciate your good efforts . thank you.
In that case I dont believe you have to apply for change of address. You can continue to maintain location "X" as your permanent address.

The FDIC has less than 50 billion left but I think if the govt can provide the banks with a trillion dollars then it will certainly bail out FDIC. No need to panic . FDIC will be the last bastion to fall. The govt would certainly not let it happen in any scenario.

Thanks for replying.
For question number 3 can you give more details. What is AVR.
Basically when going to neighbouring countries we give our I94 card and when entering the country(USA) they give a new I94card and stamp and put the date on it.
so is it advisable to go out of country and reenter that way i will have new I94 card with new date on it, My only concern i got my ssn does it mean i lost H4 status as H4 are never given ssn, so in this situation if i go out of country and enter again will they put me questions as i have valid visa, i never applied AP and applied EAD but never used it.

Our dear friend Mahesh Mahadevan has left us as of Saturday, April 10th, hours before his 23rd birthday. Mahesh was a second year Ph.D. student in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Irvine and an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Mahesh was a truly wonderful person with a bottomless heart, always willing to help everyone out without hesitation. His passion for life and people has inspired several of us to explore the world. He was genius in his own right; his thirst for knowledge and willingness to share it with us has made us better individuals. We miss him terribly.
Now Mahesh has to find his way home to Cochin, Kerala in India. It is estimated that the entire process (mortuary, embalming, airfare, and funeral services) will cost several thousand dollars, which, as we all are well aware of, is forbiddingly expensive. It is time for us to come together and show our support. Please help Mahesh on his journey home and beyond. We, Surabhi--the Indian Students Association at UC, Irvine--request you to donate any amount possible by clicking on this link below. All funds will be transferred to Mahesh's parents in India. In the event of surplus funds, we will institute a trust and establish scholarships in his memory for under-priveleged yet brilliant young minds. In our efforts to be transparent, we will update this webpage everyday with donors, their contributions, and expenses. If you would rather be anonymous, please e-mail nithyas [at] gmail [dot] com.

I will be applying for Employment Based green card (EB 1) as I am a multinational Manger . Would also like to include my spouse in the process. He is currently entering the US in July on F1 Visa to enroll into full time masters for 2 years My employer can file for a green card anytime
I would like to understand the following 1) Can my spouse continue in F1 status and be eligible for internship and OPT until the green card is received 2) Is there any consequences to his present status (F1) because we are going to process his green card? 3) Can he obtain EAD/H1 after his education if the green card is still pending
We don't want to get into a situation where he has lost his privilages as a F1 student because he has applied for green card. Please advice
WHy should his greencard be pending after two years ? He should get it as soon as you get it. In your case, since you are a MULTINATIONAL MANAGER, you should get this in a few weeks.
If you work for companies that commit EB1 multinational manager fraud everyday such as Infosys, TCS, congizant, LT, Wipro, its very likely that your EB1 application will be rejected. USCIS is now aware of these frauds very well and they are cracking down on this very rigourously. I am sure in your case you must be having a bachelors degree (may not be in engineering) and you must have worked in the parent company for a few years and now moved to the US. There must be one software engineer reporting to you in India for a few months until your case is processed. This has been a recipe for disaster in the last few months but you can still try your luck.
