What is the native resolution that your plasma display supports? You may actually have a problem with using a DVI-HDMI cable at a high resolution. I once tried hooking up a Mini G4 to a 37" Sharp LCD (1920x1080) using a DVI-HDMI cable and I could not get a picture at all. The same Mini connected to a 24" LCD (1920x1200) using a Dual Link DVI cable worked just fine. I suspect the dual-link high-resolution support is dependent on a proper DVI cable.

Not surpising at all. It's all about control of content and money.
All studios, rather music or movie have always hated the idea of selling content even though it makes them a ton of money. If they could do away with all of it, including DVD sells, they would. What they truly want is for you to pay a fee every time you want to view or listen to content and you never "own" anything period. Nothing physical at all to buy, just pay for it every time you view or listen.

Writing this from Leopard, Its such a great upgrade I loveee it and OMFG the queue was insane xD Gald to say I was 4th coming away with 2 shirts (Sorry if you didnt get one xD Heh I waited 3 hours :P Which flew by) The amount of people that pushed pissed me off. Hmm...I have a feeling both the iPhone and iPhone Pro will be flash-based though. But I think you're right they will both be slider phones. I think the iPhone "slim" phone will basically be like a shorter, wider iPod nano with a slightly larger screen and a slide-out keyboard - so it will be about twice the thickness of a nano. The larger iPhone Pro will be like a narrower iPod, maybe with a portrait screen orientation instead of landscape, and will again have a slide-out keyboard. I expect that the iPhone will have something like 2 GB and the iPhone Pro something like 4 GB or even 8 GB. I would be pleasantly surprised if either of these models had any expandable storage, but I doubt it. I think they will initially launch without expandable storage, and then add it later in the second generation of iPhones...
yeah yeah... thats what i meant.... i just mean the form of the 80gb ipod... an 80gb hd might be a bit overkill... but im just lookng at my ipod sitting on the table next to my treo 650, and the 650 looks so dated... i remember when that seemed so cool, but looking at them side by side they look like different decades... something the same size and design as the ipod 80gb, where at the bottom it slides and exposes a qwerty keyboard... stellar

I have read that you should find a type of photography that you're good at and stick with it rather than try to be a jack of all trades type. Trying to do sports, weddings and landscape all at once may not be the best idea, for example. They all require different equipment and style of photography. Now, I am barely out of the novice stage (about 7 months into taking photography seriously) so I am hardly able to give expert advice. I haven't figured out what kind of photography I am best at or like doing most. I have noticed I feel a bit intimidated by portrait type photography. I don't have the right equipment for it (flashes, strobes, backdrops, studio...), and I'm not sure I want to go that route. I also don't care for sports in general, so that's not a likely path for me, either.
At least I mostly haven't suffered from the things you listed above. I kind of did buy an expensive camera to take "better" pictures, but then my P&S was pretty limiting in the kind of pictures I could take with it. It didn't do well with the kind of pictures I wanted to take. I recognize I got it to make the technical aspects better and for the versatility of different lenses. I know it doesn't mean what I take pictures of will necessarily be better.
I think I'm sucking less than when I started my 365 project. People tell me they like my pictures, so I must be doing something right at least sometimes. This means I'm achieving my goal for my project, which was to be more interested and better at photography. I can't even look at the pictures I took prior to starting it. :) I moved them all off to iPhoto and use Aperture for everything since.
If anyone wants to comment on how I'm doing so far, and they're bored enough to go through it all, my project set on flickr is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22077805@N07/sets/72157624631747093/
I'll also add one to the list above - Always copy what other photographers do instead of establishing your own style.

Ugh, outlook syncing to Exchange 2010 is still slow. Emails hit my iPhone instantly, as well as Outlook 2010. As for the Outlook it takes up to 30 seconds. Maybe they need to improve EWS???

I'm hoping one of the super secret features is a completely reworked Finder. While I don't think it's a deal-breaker by any means, I have to agree with those who say that the Finder is generally sluggish in ways that it should not be. I have a Windows XP box on my desk next to my G5 and XP's windows and menus are lightning fast and immediately responsive. Further, icons and file lists are pulled up instantaneously. With the Finder on the G5, there's always that little pause or the list of files take a second or two to show up or icons take a while to load. There's no reason Apple shouldn't be equal to or better than XP's interface, but it's not. It's the one area where Apple hasn't quite nailed it.
Still, I would take OS X over XP any day, but it sure would be good news to me to hear a fully revamped Finder with all these slowdowns ironed out.

Yeah, there'll be a cheaper version of the S to replace the Arcade/Pro systems. It'll probably have a 120GB HDD and maybe even be glossy white, as white Kinects have been spotted.

I miss the days when I could order an 8 pack of eMacs for our school for $4995. That comes out to less than $625 each. Now the cheapest computer I can get from Apple is $899 for the 20" iMac, (maybe $825 if I buy 25 or so and sweet talk my account rep). That's like a $5000-7000 difference for a lab of 25. Not small peanuts by any means when it comes to school budgets.
This $20 discount is a kick in the nuts from Apple. They'll still charge us 29 bucks for each stupid dongle and make that right back. (cue Clark Griswold rant)

You're misunderstanding. It's not a cobranded box that says TiVo, that's coming in the future, but DirecTV outsourced their DVR software development to TiVo years ago....

They're working on a true Tivo box that'll support directv, whereas in the past it's just been software they've developed as private label for DirecTV... hence the "renewed partnership" wording.
Their renewed partnership is because there used to be a DirecTivo (which was a dvr separate from the other boxes) that was launched back in 1999 and went through a series of upgrades until 2007.
Their current software found in their boxes is done in house, I know a few people who test it.

After more testing, I notice that the new .mac interface doesn't have a feature that other AJAX web based email has (yahoo, hotmail (live.com), and more)
You cannot press the secondary button (control+click) on a message or folder and have a menu appear with some functionality. for example, hightlight a message(s), control click, and either delete, mark as read, move to ... etc.

I wasn 't buying any of the in depth analysis people were making over the New Year splash, but now...
We can be pretty sure the two images represent colours and styles involved in a new theme - whether that theme is simply a logo for iTV (most likely), Leopard (still pretty likely) or an iPhone/new iPod (unlikely, just because... it doesn't look very relevant) is unknown.
I hope it's Leopard tbh. I couldn't give a sh�t about iTV.

Omg with no laptop updates, I'd like to watch as Apple's laptop sales tumble. Already the Apple Store dropped their MacBook shipping days down to 3-5 days (nobody wants it). :mad:
Having visited my local Apple Store several times over the last two weeks (my PowerBook G4 was in for warranty repairs), I can safely say that I saw more MacBooks selling than any other computer... easily two MacBooks for every iMac that sold.
This is no surprise when you consider the price/performance ratio and the overall market shift toward mobile computing (not to mention back-to-school season).
If anything, I'd say it's a safe bet that Apple may be having trouble keeping up with demand.

Oooh... looks like we have the faux small-government types coming in! If you're worried about wasting of money, keep in mind that your government spends way more money on propaganda launched at you and empire-building than it does on the federal trade commission.
Why should they even spend money on empire-building or the FTC?
In addition, you might read up on this and see that this is really douchebag behavior we're talking about where a publisher has a "free" game for kids and then charges $100 multiple times for "smurfberries". That's pretty slimy behavior. The intention is to get a child who doesn't understand it's not play money to have their parents download the app and put in their password, then use the 15-minute window to rob the parents. The parents are thinking this is some harmless game until they get the bill.
The main problem I have with this statement is that it absolves parents of responsibility. If a parent is going to give a child a several hundred dollar iDevice and do not spend a small amount of time understanding how apps work, then shame on them. Ignorance is no reason for a government investigation and possible future regulation in this area. Furthermore, if this truly was an extremely large problem, the free market would sort it out. If parent are outraged from this type of behavior they would not allow their children to purchase these apps and the company would change their tactics. It's simple really. However, it goes back again to proper parenting.
I would call this bad parenting if it didn't involve trickery. Do you really expect a child to understand the difference between play money and real money?
Not trickery. As a parent, spend a small amount of time and do a Google search on how in-app purchases work. Be proactive.

So I am having my first surgical procedures in *looks at widget* 16 days, and the thing that scares me the most is the general anesthesia...
I've looked at sites about it, but they don't walk through the whole procedures and what you feel like after etc...
Is it all IV? Gas?
What do you feel like when you come to?

Some is IV. Some is gas. I've only had IV. Basically they inject you. You feel sleepy. You fall asleep. You wake up kinda groggy and end up sleeping it off for most of the day.
I've only had one bad experience w/ general anesthesia, but it was an unusual situation so I don't give it much weight.
You really have nothing to worry about.

don't ask me! ask the EU about it. i don't make the regulations. but i can tell you this, they want a standard port for charging purposes and data transfer, so that you have to deal with fewer cables. it's not a bad idea, if you think about it.It's a bad idea for Apple when they can't charge you $99 for a 50 cent piece of plastic and copper.
