In other news, Samsung just launched their new iPhone in South korea called Galaxy S2 that looks a lot like iPhone 4 design.

    Sorry, that's what Steve said.

In other words, Samsung just released Galaxy S2.

I have a bad problem I can't seem to fix (for almost a year now). Thanks to Outlook, somehow a duplicate mailbox was created on the server for the admin user (me: gary). When mail is sent to gary@aspenridge.ca it is possible for it to end up in either of the two mailboxes in /var/spool/dovecot/mail. I manually (as root) deleted one of the mailboxes last year but every once in a while, the duplicate mailbox re-appears. Now, I should clarify that the mailbox is unique (has a unique name), however the owner is still listed as 'gary' twice. Here's the output of the directory:

    aspenridge:mail gary$ ls -l
    total 0
    drwx------ 21 melody mail 714 Dec 26 23:05 19368C01-774D-42B6-B753-8621DD72251F/
    drwx------ 17 enrique mail 578 Jan 20 14:21 2CFD6ABD-CABC-44C8-BA1A-82AB8CFF2AB4/
    drwx------ 13 gary mail 442 Jan 20 14:39 7CF2BDA1-2890-4DA9-9953-41C3425FDF13/
    drwx------ 17 nelly mail 578 Jan 20 13:08 BDA2D0D9-D21F-40FE-8C9E-DD868C750B1C/
    drwx------ 22 gferrer mail 748 Jan 20 14:31 D1D3FF6F-CE36-4682-A31A-F1B7A0E62DF8/
    drwx------ 11 tom mail 374 May 10 2010 E73B7452-101B-4ED5-B8C7-A9E7828288AE/
    drwx------ 9 com.apple.calendarserver mail 306 Nov 22 2009 E7E8C925-5BDA-40B4-A6E1-0806C22F55D4/
    drwx------ 16 gary mail 544 Jan 8 14:16 EDE561D8-F6F8-4C1F-A54B-210E5D60CD75/

As you can see, mailbox owned by 'gary' is there twice and this is a problem. I tried deleting the 'gary' user but the system won't allow me to (I think it's because it's the admin user originally created when setting up the system). Because I can't reliably receive mail as gary@aspenridge.ca, I had to create another user 'gferrer' instead and set 'gary' to forward mail to gferrer@aspenridge.ca in WM.

Any ideas what I can do here to fix the problem?

    Thanks.

Yes, I know nothing about the delay....due to the disgraceful actions of Apple and their total lack of openness.

People keep whining about the lack of openness of Apple, but if I take a look at other companies in the same market (Samsung, Sony, LG etc..) I wonder how much more open they are, when compared to Apple? The only thing they do differently is announce their products in a different way, but I don't see announcements about products delays and their reasons by other manufacturers anywhere on a regular basis. What lack of openness are you referring to, and what do you expect from Apple?

Anyone with a certain business sense would have handled the white iPhone issue in the same way that Apple did. They probably didn't know themselves when it would be ready for large scale production, so what good does it do to give regular updates or keep promising launch dates that cannot be met (I know they did this with the white iPhone, but this just proves that they should just confirm when they are sure)?

All this outrage is because Apple is actually the most reliable manufacturer on the planet with it's synchronized and predictable launch patterns (bar some examples such as the Mac Mini and Air). I keep getting the feeling that it's the same kind of outrage that is present when the always-on-time guy is for once a bit late, whereas most of the others are late everyday and nobody cares.

It's just a gadget, not a cure for cancer...

Hi Zen. Yeah i understand I need to change the firmware. I was focusing all my panic on the kernal crashes and will look at installing the cards today and updating the firmware whilst i'm at it.

Thank you very very much for the assistance you have provided. It really is 'above & beyond' and really marks you out as one of the top contributors to this forum.

I've spent some time in the non PPC section and it seems to be full of haters, and mac-bashers - 'why hasn't the new ****** got ******? Apple are so crap/expensive/dont care about the little man' etc etc etc ad infinitum.

It seems the camaraderie of keeping older machines running makes for a more peaceful, happy section of the site.

Not necessarily. ACT UP was a very aggressive group in the 80's that used that motto to bring attention to the AIDS crisis. I didn't like them or their tactics much at all at the time either. But you know what? It worked. They definitely served their purpose and are responsible for bringing serious attention to HIV/AIDS. Because you know what? Standing up to bullies like social conservatives works.

What doesn't work is letting them walk all over you, like they've been doing for decades. I'm talking about people who, no matter what you do, will NEVER respect you unless you stand up to them. Sometimes, violence is the answer. I'm sorry, but that's just a sad truth. It should always be the last resort, but it is the only answer sometimes. If people like this think you'll never fight back, you'll always lose. Because you know why? They think we're evil. They think we're the enemy. They've dehumanized us to such an extent that they think it's OK to beat the crap out of us, take our rights and even try to take our children. Would you sit still for that? They will never see us as even remotely human. And if we sit there and take it, we'll never get anywhere. These are not people you play nice with, because they won't play nice back. They are going out of their way to hurt us. There is no doubt about that.

Homosexuality was accepted and practiced openly during the Roman Era...which is what most of us here draw roots as a "real civilization". It was when the Christians and Abrahamic religions took over that being gay started to be "outlawed". Prolly has to do a lot with the fact that the "kings" needed subjects to draw loyal warriors and peasants from to keep their land, etc...especially since major factions killed eachother all the time.

Nevertheless, what you are experiencing is the remnance of Christianity's "being fruitful and multiply" efforts. It may take a while for "new thought processes" to reach "the conservatives" out there, but it will get there as these religions start to have less and less control over people's behaviors and even start to die out as we all enter the modern world.

Much of what we believe in to "keep the land" in modern times involves more of a faith in "Capitalism" than faith in "God". And you are right that "gay couples can raise children" too these days with modern technology, but the underlying requirement as with any successful family, is your capitalistic faith and success in it (read: money). But I think that since the US takes much of the brunt of world military efforts, there will still be a need for a large sector of ppl who will sacrifice themselves to "go to heaven". It's no wonder that the USA, although most advanced of the Western world, has the most religious ppl. Which is why "Don't ask, don't tell" has persisted in the military for ages. But I think as we roboticize more warfare in the future, there won't be as much of a need to make religious kids willingly act as cannon fodder so the Military might be more open to gays. Afterall, an extra person in front of a joystick is just as good as an extra person in front of a cash register...regardless of sexual preference. ;)

    Hey guys,

Anyone know of any drivers for a Linksys wireless USB Adapter for OS X?

I have a TiVo with the home media option, and would like to stream music etc, but I can't get the Mac or the TiVo to see the Adapter.

Needless to say, it came with a CD ROM stuffed with WIndows drivers.....

So this kid is a straight A student and is very bright. But he argues with his parents a lot and, like any other teenager, is disrespectful. Should any of these factors influence a parent's decision? On one hand, he has proven to be responsible, saving money and getting good grades. On the other hand, he's moody and often shuts himself off from the rest of the family.

Well no mater how you might feel about it, the thing is.. if a person really wants to do something, they will do it. If you don't allow it, he would probibly just do it behind your back. I think youd prefer him being straight forward.

Then you have the age thing, he is 18... and you can't exactly tell him no straight out; but since he (im assuming this part) still lives with you, you would be able to (from a legal point) say "if you do it, you aren't allowed to live here" - Would I take it that far? Nope. I think you should just trust your children; he's proven that hes an intelligent person. Just because hes disrespectful doesn't mean he would do anything stupid; I think all kids are disrepectful at some point anyway.

The best way to avoid the experience of the music industry is to respond to a changing market and give people what they want before they get mad enough to expend the effort to just take it and feel justified.

I couldn't agree with you more. The current model that the MPAA and the RIAA are trying to preserve is simply irrelevent with the advent of digital media as a realistic and easily obtainable alternative. They had a chance to embrace it and make serious changes to the way they do things (i.e. find some way to deliver content at essentially no cost to the consumer but still turn a profit through ads and other sponsorship, which would work because the cost of producing the content is decreasing really quickly) but they chose to fight it and they can't win. The iTS is a compromise between the two, but I'll stick to free media and pay to go to concerts for bands I like and see some movies in the theatres.

My mac is 31 months old and I just brought a external harddrive to back it up among other things. The harddrive needs to be reformitted (its a WD Elements 1.5 TB) and I can not find my disk utility anywhere. I went to applications -utilities and I can not find it. Where can I find my disk utility? How can I recover it? Thanks in advanced.

I'm guessing you'll see the same form factor - similar to the 3G to the 3GS.

Updates will likely be limited to:

    A5 Chip
    64Gb
    Higher Resolution Camera
    GSM/CDMA in the same device

I can already hear Jobs, "It's a dual-core processor, IN A PHONE!". This is all speculation of course, but the updates are only going to be incremental.

There's no reason for design specs or sizes to leak out, because Apple doesn't need to share them with any case makers or partners - it will be the same size as the iPhone 4. So, you won't hear about it until it's announced at WWDC (I don't believe the hype that it's been moved - thats just paranoid). We're likely to hear about iOS 5 this month or next.

Apple needs to release something for the Summer Quarter (I don't know when their fiscal begins) for shareholders. If not, % growth in stocks will be down year over year for the quarter.

Not that it matters to me. I only update once every 2 years and I have an iPhone 4 :)

Unless, of course, we decided to declare war on Australia while I was napping.

We could just add them to the list.

Seriously, the death penalty as instituted in the US is grossly economically inefficient. With all the automatic appeals and legal fees, the death penalty is nothing more than a subsidy for the legal profession.

Life without parole is the way to go. If "Life Without Parole" actually meant "Life Without Parole". Far cheaper to just house them, plus, if we did find out we made a mistake, we could give them at least a part of their life back.

I wonder how many of these posts are trolls? I haven't had any issues whatsoever with 4.3.1. I also didn't have any problems with 4.3; battery life has been absolutely stellar and call performance actually improved in 4.3.1.

The timing of all these "bitching" posts just seems suspicious.
