Is is just me, have Emilio and Martin been a bit quiet over this whole fiasco?
Martin criticized his son on the CNN story, but declined to elaborate on specifics concerning the show and the fued with Lorre.
As time goes on, we will see both sides and finally assume all players here are ego maniacs. :)

anyway apple is using >$175 CPUs in all the iMac, just a variety in each model ...

I find most of the comments puerile or insane--over reacting with disdain or glee--while the major concern should be the function. I still find iCal a little limited and annoyingly so in terms of notes attached to daily functions.
Who gives a crap how it is decorated! Make the thing work better and it will work better, and that's what matters to real people who need real organization within their lives.
Can't help it I'm a snotty designer and one of the things I love about Macs are their liberal use of 'flair'. This is counter-intuitive to that style I'm used to.
I will agree that any added functionality would be very welcome.

You're going to pay the same rate for your service regardless of subsidy status of your iPhone. Why pay $650 when you can pay $200?
If you have enough competition, some carrier will fill that niche and offer a noticeably cheaper plan for non-subsidised phones. And when that happens, a full-price (non-subsidised) phone + those plans normally turns out cheaper than a subsidised phone + higher rates.
For example, regulation making life easier for mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) is one way to enhance competition.

It's awesome Apple is making a base iMac so powerful, a i5 Quad for 1199$ shows that apple is going to be having faster i7's in the future for the high end.

Apple pays 70% straight to the record companies, which would be $0.90. If Amazon pays the same, then they have $0.21 loss before they even start. Or Amazon gets different prices than Apple, which would need some explaining.

If I could ditch the PS3, Airport Extreme, ATV2 and get games, movies, tv channels, etc, as well as wireless capabilities and a 1080P picture, I'd be interested.
Apple would likely work through the thing from the inside out to make it aesthetically pleasing, thin as hell and offer only one plug (instead of the rats nest most entertainment centers hold) and your iphone / ipad would be the remote. Oh, don't forget that setup would be a breeze and with Facetime built in, they would draw in the telephony market too.
No more clutter and full apple integration. What's not to like?

I would argue that accepting a lifestyle that has a much higher likelihood of illness or death doesn't necessarily mean mental illness. What about adventure seekers? Is climbing Everest a sign of mental illness? The likelihood of dying is high, and honestly, some would say that you have to be crazy to do it, but people still praise the behavior, and don't label the person with a mental illness.
Guys, it really is possible that she just LOVES food. I've met people like that. They are great chefs and are very over weight because they love food. Not because they have some kind of mental deficiency.
Humans function on a reward system. You may climb Everest because of the personal accomplishment or the rush. Eating to the degree of excess that lady has is far more than a love of food. There is no potential gain and she knows she is hurting herself, but does not care. She is pursuing a goal that conflicts with 'logical reasoning'. If you look at people who are class III obese, you will see a few things. First, depression and suicide rates are ridiculously high. Two, almost all want to lose weight. Three, there are often underlying conditions.
Obesity needs to be treated as a mental illness as well as physical illness/condition. Much of losing weight and keeping it off is psychological. The self-rated quality of life of obese children are literally worse than terminal cancer patients. Not everyone who is obese has a mental illness, but when people get to extreme obesity, there is almost always an existing condition or one has developed from a negative self-image.

Why make another SKU (or 4 for that matter). Just add another band to the GSM chip. They added a band just for the jp market, so why not the same thing here?

Thanks for calling me a liar. My date moved, without explanation, as quoted in the story. The only thing I can personally think of is dropping a third line from the family plan. Other than that, and thanks to autopay, my bill for the remaining two iPhones on the plan is rather expensive, and always paid in full and on time, so the other argument is invalid as well.

No, I read that the show actually generates around $160m per year for ABC through advertisers.
You may not like him, but I suppose he is underpaid for the money he can generate...
