Here's the gist of the problem: too generous state worker union pensions. I wouldn't be surprised that these pensions are extensively re-done to drastically cut its cost in order to reduce state budget deficits.
Yup, the collapse of the economy (and therefore many people's 401k's and other retirement nest eggs) coupled with the continuation of cutting taxes and giving massive tax cuts (often times almost identical in size to the cuts to social programs, hmm...) to corporations who don't pay their taxes in the first place had NOTHING to do with it. :rolleyes:
People like this really make me angry.

No they're not. I've listened to ATC transmissions on Delta and Alaska Air too... Then again, it's been a few years since I've flown anyone other than United, Southwest and Frontier and of those three, United is the only doing it.

everyone experimented with limited devices going back to the 1980's but it took other tech like flash memory and wifi to make them a reality. i played with Palm and PocketPC 10 years ago and while they were cool most tasks were useless because you spent as much time putting in data as the time saved. it wasn't until iOS and the apps store where you could do things like select a few recipes and make a shopping list did a PDA become useful

I was downloading data to my Phone using my cell phone as a modem in cira 1999... I didn't have to "spent as much time putting in data as the time saved". Like other PDAs, I could sync data from my PC<->device.

Well, it is pretty not functional in this early release.
There is a new app called "Server" which seems to be similar to the current "Server Preferences." I always find Server Preferences to be a joke.
Server Admin is still their, but all the Services that "Server" covers are not in Server Admin. Thankfully NetBoot and SUS are still in place as is DNS. What they may be doing is using "Server" for the consumer. And keeping more advanced features like DNS, OD, etc in Server Admin.
Notably missing from File Sharing is NFS and their are no advanced file sharing options in Server Admin.
All in all, I am pretty disappointed. I would much prefer the "Server Preferences" and "Server Admin" arrangement that is currently in SL Server. I definitely would not say this is fulling featured. At this time it is a giant downgrade

I have been using Pages and its not that bad
I haved used Word for ages and have since been testing out Pages to see out well it works out
So far I agree that some things need tweaking but apart from that its not bad at all

Oh my, what a conundrum for the fan boys. On one hand, CR loves the iPad and Apple's customer service but on the other hand, we have the iPhone 4. :D
I don't know if I qualify as a "fan boy" or not... I love technology, Apple just happens to have been the leader for a long time. Anyway, I'm not a fan of CR's criteria regardless of what they recommend. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

My uses would be mainly Web Browsing, Video Watching, Chatting, some gaming (mainly DS and PS2 emulation), Garage Band and Photoshop.
As such, and considering the 9400 GPU already runs PS2 without problem, I'd say my priorities would be:
a) More RAM
b) Better CPU
c) Better Battery Life
d) Backlit Keyboard
e) Better GPU

I honestly haven't played much of the games some of you listed as platform-specific. I bought a Wii because of the virtual console games from old systems and the Zelda: Twilight Princess game available at launch. It was also $250 at the time versus like $400 and $600. I like a lot of the games I have bought for it, but damned EA Sports and it's awful NCAA Football attempt.
I think I like FPS games, but it of course depends on which one. I've heard a lot about Halo being good. I remember David Pollack talking about playing that with his roommates when he was at UGA. I think that was in the Halo 2 days. I liked playing Half-Life in college on our network, but I didn't play much of the story. SOCOM: US Navy SEALs was pretty awesome on the PS2, but I got stuck at a couple of parts on it.
As I said, I heard about a Magic: The Gathering game on 360 that sounds interesting. In my PC days, there was an online PC version of that game that I enjoyed a bit.
Someone may need to explain the point of such big hard disks to me on the 360 and PS3. I know you can download movies and such, but I'm still a disc whore/Apple whore. I've got a lot of BDs and DVDs that I use, plus I plan on getting an Apple TV whenever Steve-o decides to update it. I watch a TON of my DVDs ripped to my computer. The Wii has storage space mostly for saves and VC games. I have a 4GB SD card in there, which is way more than I need. See I'd buy the $250 system with two free games if not for the insanity of $90 for a WiFi adapter. My Wii has WiFi built in and costs $200 now. Microsoft, c'mon.
One last thing probably is system reliability. I've had a Wii since launch with no problems. I bought a PS2 before the slimming and it stopped playing stuff effectively, which forced me to buy a Slim. I don't know anybody who owned a PS2 who didn't have to do that. Consider me wary of Sony because of that, just this time the hardware has cost twice as much. I have two BD players. Yeah, it would be neat to have a newer one to replace my pre-Netflix streaming system that loads a little slow, but it still plays mostly fine. I've got another much better BD player, both of these Samsungs, and it's kick-ass.

No it's not banned. They are intentionally trying to make it more difficult for you to buy it. You have to do the footwork yourself to get it. It is unprecendented for a company to want to make their product more difficult to buy.

Maybe the truth is you are complaining about losing your easy way to get iPhones through fraudulant means and selling them for a profit? I mean, why else would you suggest that AT&T is lying about fraud as potential reason for blocking online purchases in your area?
Go take a walk, you can probably hit 5 AT&T resellers of some sort or Apple stores throwing a baseball from your front doorstep.

It would be great if the iPhone went to another carrier especially T-Mobile since they are lacking a real flagship device. But i keep thinking for some reason that as much as AT&T and Apple are like a married couple that argues all the time that the iPhone may never go to another carrier.
Because Apple loves to be the Dominatrix i guess you could say :p And i can't imagine another provider putting up with their demands. And doesn't apple have some type of say about the data plans as well? I remember an issue with Rogers in canada and how apple made them change one of the data plans.

After I had to write a paper on "Myth America- How The American Dream has been and always will be a Myth" I conveniently forgot to sign up for the next semester's classes.

That kind of stuff changed my views on a lot of things. I never could understand. I've been beat down a lot in my life. I started with zero - paycheck to paycheck household, nobody saved anything for my college. I got loans. I've gone into debt a couple times, but pulled myself out of it and put together a pretty good career.
I thought I did all that myself, but apparently it's my "white advantage" (first heard that used by Al Gore). That's just distasteful to me. Now, maybe if my skin had been a different color I would have had a harder time and not been given a fair shake in interviews and such. I can accept that. But would it really have been *impossible* to overcome, or just an additional challenge?
It just depresses me to see people living their lives with the belief that absolutely nothing is within their control, and the only way to succeed is to wrestle the property of other people away from them by massing political power. That's just a damn depressing way to live - thinking you've got no chance, no hope, nothing to contribute or gain on your own.
