I was drawn to this forum because I am interested in computers generally and macs almost qualify.....but seriously I poked around on a mac for about an hour today, and found that some things are less intuitive (minimizing and closing windows). Also I found that some things easily accessible in windows are not accessible at all in mac OSX. I felt like the computer was "dumbed down" for me. All in all it was a computer and pefectly capable internet machine, but at least in an hour nothing even came close to winning me ove. Oh yeah it also crashed once too.

Can't wait to see what they announce. It would be nice to see a bigger jump than usual for iOS and hopefully a shipping date for Lion.
My thoughts exactly. I've been awaiting the SB Lion OS iMacs for the longest time now. I cannot wait-looking forward to any more news on this front!

Mpeg stream clip was exactly what i was looking for.
What are your recommendations for exorting?
I will be editing in Final Cut. I just want high quality video as the main importance but keeping the file sizes to a minimum.

I had all IV.
They start the IV, inject one drug. It made me feel really, really good. I think I am addicted to it, because I would love to have some more of it. (No, I haven't had any since the surgery).
The second drug he injected me with made me start laughing at everything he (the anthesiologist) said, then my head got really heavy....don't remember anything after that.
Luckily, they do all the "bad" stuff after you are asleep....tube down your throat, foley catheter.. :eek:
After surgery, it feels like you have the worst hangover in history. I slept for like 20 hours (through the rest of the day and night). I guess that depends on how much anthetic you get, but there is no way I could've stayed awake for any reason. It felt like I had been awake for 3 days straight.

This is a good classic take on contrast. B&W landscape really brings out the contrast and textures.
I have a second entry I took today. I found this burned out stump filled with a pool of water reflecting the sky. I saw it and realized it had all 4 "elements" in it.

Great thread for all of us green thumbs out there! Of all the specialized forums I have belonged to, none of the folks are as helpful as the photographers. IMHO
For me, photography is a passion for the moment. Maybe one captures a piece of time whether it is for a second or a century. Sometimes I know what I want to capture, but other times I just take pictures in the spur of the moment. An example: lets say you are walking with or without you significant other and it is during the winter. You approach a house with a snowman in the front yard and you think, wow that snowman is cool and it brings back memories, so I had better take a photo to recapture an image from the past. Although, one can look to the future too! This is the beauty of photography! There are no rules, limits, or boundaries, hence zero gravity! :)

Exactly, for those folks who think Kodak was just a film company you're totally off base. They had the diversity but not the vision to adjust to the transition and ended up wholesale auctioning their future. Kinda what we're doing as a country right now.
Kodak believed that their "customers" were the drug stores that did the film developing -- and those drug stores hated the idea of digital photography. So instead of focusing on the their real customers (i.e.: those who used their camera and film) they played to the whims of the drug stores and the entire digital revolution passed them by.
Funny though, one of the best cameras we ever had for producing decent photos was the one that used their magnetic film and showed you what the picture you just took looked like on a little LCD screen. If you did not like the picture you could mark it for "do not develop" and then take another. You saved money on developing bad photos this way and you were still using film (albeit a new kind of film). I can still remember the commercial for that camera with the young couple visiting in Italy trying to get different locals to take photos of them in a specific spot so they could make it look just like an old photo they had of one of their parents in the same spot from decades earlier. Each photo that turned out wrong was marked to not be developed and then they would try again until they got the perfect shot. Funny how they did not see that digital photography accomplished the same thing but in a better way. They really missed the boat.

There's no such thing as a 'normal person'. The 'normal people' he is reffering to are the computer illiterate. Being computer illiterate dosen't make you normal.
Agnostic maybe but not illiterate. Would you call a person who knows no more about a pencil than to sharpen it and draw or write illiterate?
Computer are tools to and shouldn't need to be anything more than that to the vast majority of people. Why should they need to worry anymore about the tool than they worry about the pencil.

I don't buy it. What a nightmare that would be if just touching that area of the iPod took you back to the home screen. (Even the MacBook trackpads require a physical 'click' in order to register.) This would be a usability disaster.
Couldn't agree more. While I like that Apple strives to get rid of buttons, I think that there ought to be an exception in a case like this. Besides, it's a total usability plus to have the ONLY button take you home.

Yes, but that's just the industry bending to MS's will, not Microsoft actually producing a quality product. That's what's so frustrating here!

Go into a Best Buy and look at all the Androids with larger screens, and some with smaller screens and lower prices. Apple needs to compete with that...
I disagree. Apple doesn't need to compete with that at all. Android is not taking iPhone sales as long as Apple is selling them as fast as they can make them. In fact, the smaller droids are too small and the larger droids are too large. Size is always a compromise and the iPhone is an example of the perfect compromise. Not too small - and not too big - but just right. It works for the vast majority and they don't need other sizes. And for those of you talking about a nano size iPhone - it wouldn't be an iPhone. There are just too many things you would not be able to do. I have had tiny phones and the compromise on usability is not worth it. On the other hand, any larger and the iPhone would just be a small iPad. Too large to carry in your pocket, but not as big as the iPad. Maybe a good thought for a pad, but not for a phone. Most people need to put their phone in a multitude of pockets and jeans pockets are just right for the current iPhone. If it was even a fraction bigger it would be uncomfortable. The devices this guy is hearing rumors about could be a smaller iPad to compete with the new 7inch pads and a smaller ipod between the touch and the nano, which borders on being too small. They eventually need a new ipod form factor to replace the classic. That should already be in the works. Lot's of storage with not so much screen as a touch so you can put your money into storage instead of screen. He's just guessing they are phones.
