regarding tariffs: the problem isn't the important goods for the US: it's the lack of exporting goods
also a lot of the US car industry themselves is also heavily dependant on imported supplies as it can been seen since the japanese tsunami: quite a few of US brands had to stop some production lines (additionally to the japanese brands)

It is a desktop. i have also decided to throw my PS3 in the mix so it will be helping out at night.
oh ok. well you could add a video card to your desktop and fold with it also if you wanted. right now nvidia cards are better. probably a GTX 260 is best bang for your buck

For a small sum of a $1Billion USD, I volunteer to watch over the innocent children and their purchases. I will smack their little fingers with a a bamboo cane. Suddenly this reminds me of that South Park episode where they started smacking "ADD" kids. "Sit down and study." I think parents need to get caned then schooled into using parental controls

To squash some WinTel people in this forum/post trying to say Windows scales better than UNIX.
Spec of a Sun machine running UNIX.
Key Specifications:
Up to 106 UltraSPARC III Cu 900-MHz processors.
Big memory - more than 1/2 TB.
Up to 18 fifth-generation Dynamic System Domains, which are fully configurable while applications are running.
Hot-swappable Uniboard design CPU/memory boards that are common across Sun Fire server family.
Redundant, high-performance Sun[tm] Fireplane Interconnect with up to 172.8 GBps peak bandwidth.
Full redundancy of power and cooling systems.
Oh yeah! OS X is UNIX also. Hmmm.
Single CPU vs. Multi CPU. Who cares?
Macs are the whole package.

The chevron near my house is 3.79 for regular...my car requires premium...which sucks...$80/tank. The problem is the station only has gas for like 4 days out of the week and then runs out for a week. Happens every time.

It's about $3.90 here. But that sucks, because it costs like 65 bucks to fill my Jeep. Gas Guzzler, the price you pay to be able to drive in snow.

Computers and phones isn't the same thing. I could see them doing it with the iPad since its a computer but I honestly can't see them doing it with the iPhone. Might they change the size of the screen for the next iPhone? Yes. Will they sell two models with different screen sizes? No.
I think that apple's past success in expanding their ranges, specifically with iPods, has been their ability to market different models slightly differently. Look at the ipod mini, essentially the same as the original iPod, only smaller, but marketed as a cool new apple product in different colours that is more affordable. I don't see any reason why this strategy cannot be applied to phones. They wouldn't really have to do very much at all for this to work apart from make a good quality product. New apple product = hype = sales. I think that this is more true now than it ever has been.

I would imagine that the 3DSi would have better cameras, and a front-facing 3D camera - imagine Skype in 3D... :D
That would be awesome.
And a bigger screen too. When the 3D is working, you feel like you're looking into a box. Right now it's a really tiny box.

Sucks for anyone with the Quad G5s.
Yeah, tell me about it (looks down at my Quad). But honestly, I think it will suck even more for Adobe, as they are really limiting themselves in the market that they can reach. Come on Adobe, it wouldn't be THAT hard to code according to Apple's Universal standards, would it?
Then again, they may be trying to go for the optimal performance possible. I blogged about this a while ago (http://web.mac.com/longofest/iWeb/Blog%20Corner/Tech%20Fest/09B771A2-EF7E-4BD7-8172-9CB5E15A06EE.html), and how Universal Binaries using the Accelerate framework may not always give you all the performance options available to a program.

A very sad video of Steve Jobs has been posted online. I already feel like an evil voyeur for viewing it, so I don't want to link to it...but I'm almost in tears.
Actually, I see it's already being discussed on MacRumors:

Seriously, can we all take a step back and just breathe for a second? Is the thickness of a phone really that big of a deal? And I thought a re-release of a different color was already inane enough...
Um... yes.
Having two different colors means nothing, but now you're dealing with two different thicknesses, plus two different button layouts, meaning a total of 4 DIFFERENT versions of supposedly the same phone, all requiring their own slightly varied case (seeing how a lot of cases designed for the black iPhone 4 will not fit the thicker white models - and how some need to be changed for CDMA and GSM versions).
If a QC issue is getting out this much, then it must be one hell of a QC issue.

I don't understand all the bad push back for this new feature.
I'm walking down inner city and notice Jane is at the local coffee shop, I'll say hi. I'm at the concert with a buddy, and notice Brad is there too. I just entered this really neat cupcake place, I want to let my FRIENDS know.
If you're freaked out a creeper may know your location, why are you friends with them?
All the positive to this new, cool feature - and everyone says is - this will track your every move and people will kidnap you and break into your house, blah blah blah.
I agree my friend......you might just catch Jane in a vulnerable position of getting laid !!!!

They'd better start shipping the portables with more roomy hard drives soon...
These software updates are getting HUUUUUUUGGGGGE!:(
Just because the update is 100Mb (or whatever) does not mean that it needs 100Mb more disk space. If Apple want to update an executable then the updater contains the whole thing. So if the updater contains a new executable that is 10Mb and the existing one is 9.5Mb then you only need 0.5Mb more space.

If you don't want to connect your mac every time you want to watch the HD video or if you want to share your blockbuster movie with friends and family, then you can buy a bluray burner and an app to burn bluray disks.
http://eshop.macsales.com/articles/howto-burn-bluray-toast
There might be a better way, I'm not sure... The bluray burners start at around $150.

I don't understand why anyone gets so upset about who should be Christmas Number 1? Don't be daft! Whoever is on the top spot...we don't get anything out of it!!! Rage or Joe? Who cares...I like them both. 'Killing in the name' reminds me of my Youth, it is an old good tune and its nice to have it back. Saying that Joe is a lovely young singer under the Simon Cowell claws, forced to sing a totally unsuitable song. Before they even started x-factor finalists live shows they already declared that song being xmas number 1. I am glad that they were wrong in a way. Simon Cowell is still laughing though as it totally boosted Joe's song sales as everyone who actually liked it (or was brainwashed to like it) bought it! So there we go...all it did was creating publicity! Lets be happy that we get so much choice of music and if we don't buy it we can still listen to it on spotify!
