You are absolutely correct. We should only compare dual-processor Apple computers to other dual-processor computers. Please list your benchmarks for a dual-processor Dell, HP/Compaq, or Gateway personal computer.

Just like everyone behind the 'rebellion'.
But that's just the thing, it's not serious. At least I don't think so. A bigger deal has been made of it in this thread talking to you than any other place I've encountered. How's that for irony?
Some time in the future when past christmas number ones are played I'll get a little smile when I hear 2009's.

I just want to say how much I both love and hate Macrumors. :)
Sent from my shiny new iPad just purchased from Verizon.
:) That is what my friend said about me. I turned him on to this deal and he bought one.

seriously just shut ur pretty faces with the tired backlit keyboard anthem. this is like the least desirable feature esp since it has a direct impact on battery life.
Backlit keyboard is a nice aesthetic feature for many. It's also extremely useful for those of us who type while looking at the keyboard and tend to do a lot of traveling at night/underground. Plus, since all iterations of the keyboard have user-controlled brightness levels, the argument against it as a power sink fail. In my opinion, and as someone who really wants a backlit keyboard, the best argument against the feature is that it has the potential to increase the price to maintain such a large margin.
The TDP of the C2D and 320M combined is about 25W, I believe. The i5 2357m is a 1.4GHz proc with the HD3000 core and a TDP of 18W. By including this as the base processor, the battery life would inherently improve (without increasing the size of the battery), but a little bit of internal space would open up where the 320M was. This could be used for an SDHC card on the 11", or increased battery, or maybe an additional USB port. My wish would be to bump the base speed of the i5 up to 1.6GHz or even 1.8GHz and maintain a TDP of 25W.
A larger screen and/or thinner bezel would be nice, but I'd settle for coloring the darn thing black (without the weight of the glass over the screen). The bezel on my MacBook Pro is fantastic in comparison; I find the silver distracting.
A 2lb 11" Air with an i5 proc at 1.8GHz, a 256GB SSD, backlighting, 8+ hour battery-life, and a starting price of $100 less (dream on, I know), and there is no way I could keep myself from buying one.

Exactly! That's why the iMacs didn't get the Intel procssors until 7 months after the Mac Pros, right?Apple was in transition working from the bottom up to the pro models but now that the transition is complete I guess it will be back to the old way of doing things. I could be wrong and would love to see everything updated. You just never know with Apple because of the backroom deals they make with manufactors.

Look up some numbers please, and then come back with that facepalm...
Look up anything about how both Sony and Apple operate internally and what they do in their respective fields and tell me the facepalm isn't relevant.
The facepalm is massive understatement.

Yes, T-Mobile uses 2100 Mhz, which iPhone supports, but they also use 1700 Mhz, which no iPhone yet supports. You'd need both to use T-Mobile's 3G network.
It would be much easier to add the 1700 Mhz band than to create a CDMA iPhone, though I think both are likely.

It's temporary just to avoid the shutdown. A government shutdown so that Tea Partiers can push their conservative social agenda wouldn't go over too well.
What does temporary mean exactly? I mean if Obama has said he isn't signing any more exceptions.

Does push-mail actually work this time? In SLS it is supported, but not with an iPhone. iPhone push thus far only works with Exchange, Google or MobileMe.
Thanks!

While much of the attention regarding the long-delayed launch of the white iPhone 4 has died down, a few tidbits of interest continue to trickle out.
Late last week, Japanese blog Macotakara pointed (http://www.macotakara.jp/blog/index.php?ID=12466) to a pair of tweets from @kazunie (http://twitter.com/kazunie) highlighting some of the differences between the black and white models of the iPhone 4.

Don't quote me on this, but I am somewhat sure the apps are backed up if you had been syncing your iPod with your computer. Can someone confirm this?

Take a look at the light bleeding in the lower right. I'm thinking of returning it, and getting another unit. Thought I'd post first to see if this is normal with all units.
yup, go to apple and ask for a replacement.

We wouldn't use them for killing. Quite the contrary. As an Intelligence Analyst I can say that I would love to have a Mac based system for all of our mapping/communication/networking needs. We wouldn't even need a "tough book" like computer, since most of my work is done out of a tent or a building. A rubber casing or strip could easily seal the ports. I have been wanting to incorporate my MBP into my work more and more.
+1 for mapping. When I worked at a Joint Reserve Intelligence Center (JRIC) the intel guys that deal with imagery (sorry I don't know the term) used Macs with 30 inch ACD's.

As a true believer and a life-long Consumer Reports subscriber (been paying myself since I got my first real job > 20 years ago and before that I read my mother's magazines), I say this:
CR is "at best mediocre" at evaluating tech. They are like a bunch of really sharp grandpas and grandmas: on traditional things -- things they understand well -- they are superb -- unbeatable, really. Ignore their advice on cars or vacuums at your own risk. You might as well burn money. But they just don't get new technology and don't know how to evaluate it.
I happen to agree with them this time around, but believe me, it is purely coincidental. Just ignore CU when it comes to tech.

Does the mac mini support sd card peripherals (modems etc.)? I believe the capability is included in the sdxc spec.
Mac OS X has to support it, not the Mac mini.

My guess (hope) is that provincial governments will move left over the next 4 years as the public seeks a counterbalance.
Fight as hard as you can. You're going to have to. They will try to walk all over you. Don't let them.

So if I understand you want to use her Netstick to provide data for your I4. I think that's what you mean. If so I ask the Netstick provider or on a forum of Netstick users.
