What about those of us who use OS X (Mac) and Linux (PC) about 50-50? I mean - in the sense that we can't get the work done without either one.

For certain tasks, Windows is... good enough - but I avoid using it if I can. However, I'm not a vegetarian - and I do prefer Harley over Vespa.

Personally, I so wish that was true. But in reality, not all fat persons eat meat, and not all skinny people are vegetarians.

You can be a vegan and still stuff yourself full with carbonates, sugar and lots of different fats.

While I agree Steve Jobs don't strike me as a half a** kinda guy. Not a I don't eat meat I just eat bread and cheese vegetarian. Vegans are usually all in. All vegans that I know (and that is not nearly representative sample) are very frail looking. Many of whom looked normal before changing their diet.

Multiple screen sizes would throw a wrench into the simplicity of apps that fit one form factor.

I do think there will be potential to include some really awesome OLED screen tech that could increase visual real estate in the iPhone in the next few years, though.

It's nothing too much to worry about in my experience. The anaesthetist will likely come round and talk to you about while calculating exactly how much you need with regard to your age, size and general reaction to medicines.

A couple of pills and a paper cup later and you'll be out. Can't remember if I had gas/injections or what but that may be to do with how quickly I went out! Grogginess possibly depends on the length of time and severity of the op I think.

This experience was from when I had a knee op when I was younger and they miscalculated my size and recommended dosage for my age (6ft at 14). They gave me too much and had to hit me with a shot of adrenaline to wake me up. Couldn't sleep for about 24 hours after that, but it meant it was no trouble staying up all night and watching the Bulls march to another NBA trophy.

Plenty of people get worried about Generals but if you are in good health aside from the subject of the op itself, you should be fine.

Hope it does the trick iGary!

Checked my phone at about 3:06 this morning, when I hit the sleep/wake button the lockscreen clock said 2:06, but as soon as I unlocked the screen the clock adjusted to 3:06, hardly a problem for me, and Verizon iPhone by the way.

Frankly Apple should just commit to Thunderbolt and put those ports right on there. There is really no need for any other port.

So when everyone buys hybrids and the gas tax revenue dries up we will be forced to pay for how far we drive. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has a suggestion for raising money to fix the nations highways: tax drivers based on how many miles they drive each year.

In a report written in response to a request from Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota), the CBO laments about the shortfall in the federal budgets appropriation for highway maintenance and reckons its time drivers start footing the bill based on how often their foot is on the gas pedal. The driver would be charged according to the number of vehicle miles traveled (VMT) above that which he is allowed under appropriately promulgated guidelines.
The 26-page study is entitled (none to cleverly) Alternative Approaches to Funding Highways and goes into some detail regarding the new tax scheme and the benefits and challenges thereof.

About 25 percent of the nations highways, which carry about 85 percent of all road traffic, are paid for in part by the federal government.... reads the opening line of the paper. In other words, why should the federal government, already so strapped for cash, keeping paying so much for the highway while those who use them get a free ride?http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/congress/6847-cbo-recommends-taxing-drivers-for-miles-traveled

Based on Apple's vascilating attitude over the last year, I'm taking a wait and see position.

I'm very happy to witness their success, yet it's too bad they've chosen to dampen what should be a great celebration, by acting as though they've got to go on the attack with law suits.

In the last year they've launched more suits than any other company in the industry.

Acting insecure does not become them.

But is the iPad the "recommended" purchase?

The iPhone was also their highest rated smart phone and yet not recommended.

Nice of CR to pick the #1 selling tablet by a million miles over the competitors, but I still have little respect for them and take it with a grain of salt.

I agree with others. This is page 1 content for sure.

This supports my theory that all this Google - Apple hate is manufactured to throw off the authorities who were starting to investigate their close ties last year. They both need each other.

This right here has hit the nail on the head.

some tasks in OS X, such as networking, is insanely hard than the simplicity of the Network and Sharing Centre provided in Windows.

    What???
It probably depends on the specifics of the network you want to build, but overall, I always found it ridiculously easy to build a Mac OS network than a Windows one.
You may want to provide specific examples on how networking in OS X is 'insanely hard' as compared to Windows.

Okay, anyone with any intelligence can tell this is fake.

    1. Camera positioning is wrong, the positioning of the camera would be closer to the middle of the ipod, because the image sensor would be to wide/thick to fit there, its not like the iphone which is not rounded.
-in image 4 you can also see that the camera was photoshopped in by the pixel patterns
-photo 1 you can see fake shadowing opposing the camera to make it look as if its real, but really giving away its fakeness

    2. capitative button, the idea is cool, but apple already discussed this option and said it was unreliable, and would cause many to lose battery life from heat activation.
-Also in image 3 you can clearly see it was photoshopped by the blurring, repeating and the swirling on the fingerprints.

    3. Capacity, the actual and physical capacities of a device are different, a 128 gb ipod would have 120gb physical. then some more reserved for apple so 118gb
-also photoshopped, if you noticed the added blur in the area of device capacity, its because there is. also the focal point is distorted by the blurring effect so it proves the photoshopping

4.DVT-1 that is the name commonly used for the development of iphone, but each test was labeled with its respective code such as N90, or its respective XXGB meaning which has come to be known as the common for test items, because the cases are manufactured the same for many levels as the internals are tweaked and tested.
-photo 1 shows a blured capacity like 64gb, not the same as the 4th pictures dvt-1
-photo 4 is filtered to much, and has photoshopped DVT-1 which would be an improper labeling

so in conclusion macrumors should remove this or label it as fake on top, its completely fake, and not even a good rumor.

I am amazed to recently discover Mac owners pay more on average to keep the most current OS running on their box, even though OS X is cheaper (by about $70) than comparative Windows releases.

Spending $400 on Vista Ultimate Edition makes up the difference. :) Although the operative phrase here is "most current OS running on their box"--the most current Windows is six years old, so if people want to complain that it costs more money to keep up with modern OS updates than it does to have no major OS updates at all for over half a decade, that's not exactly something I consider a negative.

I wouldn't trade some aspects of OS X, like the Unix-ish core

    Unix-ish ? OS X is Unix.

Oooh... looks like we have the faux small-government types coming in! If you're worried about wasting of money, keep in mind that your government spends way more money on propaganda launched at you and empire-building than it does on the federal trade commission.

In addition, you might read up on this and see that this is really douchebag behavior we're talking about where a publisher has a "free" game for kids and then charges $100 multiple times for "smurfberries". That's pretty slimy behavior. The intention is to get a child who doesn't understand it's not play money to have their parents download the app and put in their password, then use the 15-minute window to rob the parents. The parents are thinking this is some harmless game until they get the bill.

I would call this bad parenting if it didn't involve trickery. Do you really expect a child to understand the difference between play money and real money?

I know, personal responsibility begins at 2, unless you're a CEO.

EDIT: maybe the moral of the story is kids shouldn't have iDevices or be allowed to use their parents'.

I have read numerous threads concerning this issue but seems like they are related to jailbreaking? I have not done this. Ihad purchased a number of apps and had not yet backed up on my itunes- therefore do not want to have to restore.

Any help would be appreciated. I have tried everything
