Simple question...
on the '11 models... would bootcamp be good on a 13'' (either model)? and how much of a difference would there be in a 15'' (low end)?
Thank you :)

Force it into DFU Mode (Google it) when it's at the Apple logo, then rerun redsn0w on it.

The new Final Cut Pro X will take full advantage of all cores and as much RAM as you can throw at it.
Its fully optimized for OpenCL, Grand Central Dispatch, and is native 64-bit. Pair a 12-core with 64 GB of RAM and a wicked OpenCL-compatible graphics card and you'll have a monster FCP machine.

I hope the national press has the respect to cover his funeral which should be at Arlington.
Been there. Every American should go once in their life-time.
Although I doubt you will get anywhere near the place when they inter him.

So... this is just a thread to see who all will not be on the forums on the day of the keynote to avoid any spoilers. I know its a small crowd, but it will certainly require a heavy amount of discipline to not check any news website or mac website or even the apple store. Sort of just checking who's all in? I've subscribed the MacRumors Spoiler Free Page (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/01/10/mwsf-2008-spoiler-free-keynote-stream/) w/ Keynote link (so i can be emailed the link when it comes out).
So.. Who else is checking out Tuesday to watch the Keynote stream (however late it may come online)?

Maybe, I've never gone to MacWorld even though I live in San Jose. Only hurdle for me would be taking a day off of work, although i've got plenty of vacation time. Not much of a drinker myself, and not too familiar with SF. Last time I went to meet-up with some people in SF, we ended up in a "massage" parlor. :eek::o:D

gnasher said to print out the call which I had done previous. There are no typos. But in fact I do have the same problem running it from the command line. Where does the & go?
You have a loop. The "system" command is executed each time in the loop. So when you enter "Q" to exit the loop, all the commands are executed again. That's what the printf should have shown you.
So what happens when you execute the second system () call? I don't expect it to work. I expect it to overwrite the output of the first system () command.

Hi guys,
I've just reset my dad's iPhone and synced it with his Exchange account, since all the contacts are there. The issue is that the default way of adding contacts to the iPhone (via the recent calls or the dialer) saves the contacts locally.
Is there any good way to have the contacts saved by default to the Exchange instead?
On a side note, opening the contacts and adjusting it slightly is very slow.
Thanks in advance!

The size of neither HDD has any effect on the outcome, only the size of the actual backup. If you have a backup of 150GB, then it will take roughly 150GB on the 320GB HDD and the other 170GB will be there for you to use.

Somewhere in 2009/2010, I can't really remember now I bought the 21inch iMac. It was working perfectly fine up until January 2011 where it started lagging, it became very slow and eventually it kept freezing...
It is now completely unworkable, it originally has the Mac OSX Leopard system and I cannot at all use it. When it is powered on it stays on the apple screen for like 10+/- minutes. After a while the background shows up but nothing on screen and it sits there frozen. When the power button is pressed once, the screen turns off, when the power button is pressed again, screen comes back on with everything already loaded, you can see the dock, and startup programs but everything is completely frozen, I can move the mouse but apart from that it's all dead (even the keyboard). After like 10/20 +- minutes it unfreezes and the computer is usable... the problem is that it keeps freezing every now and then...
While it unfroze, I managed to use a tool called Yasu to clean it up, I also checked the hard drive (1TB one) and everything was said to be in normal conditon.
Rebooted the mac, and the same thing happens all over again...
I tried running the install disc that originally came with the iMac but it does not want to boot. I tried booting in safe mode, it takes ages to boot up and when it does, it freezes on the login screen. I used the applications CD where you have to hold D, this booted up, I checked the system and everything was completely fine.
I then tried booting up (holding C) from a Windows Live CD, and it booted up perfectly fine, did a disk check, all was stated as working.
I then tried booting from the install disc and it just won't boot. It freezes up and I have to wait like 10 to 20 minutes to take out the CD because it won't come out.
Before I take it to Apple (#!$"# piece of crap) I would like to see if there's anything else I can do?
Since other CD's are booting up perfectly fine, I was thinking of installing Ubuntu Linux and maybe then trying to reinstall Mac OSX using the original CD?
Any help? Please!!!!!!!!!!!! and thank you in advance.

The Safarish theme suggested is still very buggy (e.g., the find bar is huge), so it looks like I'll be ditching Firefox and just picking up a RSS reader. By "TBE doesn't work properly" I mean that half of the options don't show up in preferences.
Hmmmm...that sounds like somewhere there is a corrupt file, or something strange. I get the same option set in Win2k and in MacOS. But at any rate, Safari is a good browser, and I hope you enjoy it. Another couple of Safari hints:
If you haven't already, try PithHelmet (http://culater.net/software/PithHelmet/PithHelmet.php), which is, to me, not quite as nice as AdBlock, but gives you many of the same features, and AcidSearch (http://www.pozytron.com/?acidsearch) , which to me, is in some ways nicer than FF search bar customization (you can re-order the search options in the pull-down, which for me, is in-and-of-itself awesome).

When I say I'm broke I mean seriously broke. I just lost my job and am having a tough time finding one. I intend to get a new iBook sometime next year which will come with a wireless card and the newest OS (I'm using 10.2.8) and a bit more ram than I have. To do all these upgrades to my current iBook wouldn't make any sense when I could get a new one for just a bit more. I intend to give this one to my mother for she would only use this on a desk and wouldn't need the wireless. Perhaps if I had the extra money I would upgrade this now and wait for a good deal on a newer model, but circumstances are what they are.

Hi ,
I have in my .xib file two views,
one is the main view that connected to the view outlet from the file's owner and
the second one I named ABC from the code
-IBOutlet UIView *ABC;
my question is how do I call the ABC view from another class if ABC view isn't
connected to the "view" outlet from the file's owner
I can call the main view from another class
LoginRegisterViewController *viewController = [[LoginRegisterViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LoginRegisterViewController" bundle:nil];
self.loginRegisterViewController = viewController;
[viewController release];

I guess Judgment Day is over, but how will I know whether or not to come up out of this bunker?
Just in case I think I'll stay down here. I have a 3-year supply of water and canned food.
Is this why we have a ratings system now?
Skynet took over MacRumors!!:eek:
