good idea / bad idea (see animaniacs)
good idea: anything that will allow me to get a mac for work is great.
bad idea: anything that will keep me using the notes interface is anti-great.

How do you open localized strings?
Using qlmanage -p or vim, you can see the contents, but they look compiled.
But anyway to view the files properly?
They are binary plists. Anything that can open a binary plist can read the file, as is shown in the screen shot, OmniOutliner.

Well I like Kobe and I'm watching the Lakers / Kings game right now
It's just one of those words that shouldn't be said regardless, even if it's institutionalized like you said. I listened to ESPN radio earlier, and Kobe called in and tried to explain himself in a way that I thought was apologetic and satisfactory.

34c for 3+ hours means that nap is working perfectly. It's the only possible way that any MDD would ever be under 50c for 3 hours.
I remember some cooler mornings in the spring and fall of 07 when I had my dual 867.. the idle temp was 29-31c with nap + an extra 120mm mounted on the back. Even under heavy load it never got above the mid 40's.

Soon we will only have one OS called iOSX
OSX 10.7 has iOS features that were sent "Back to the Mac"
iOS is getting OSX apps (Photoshop, Garage Band, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Photo Booth.......)
OSX is getting apps originally designed for iOS
If you imagine iOS and OSX on a line
iOS......................|.....................OSX
They are moving in opposite directions toward each other.
......iOS................|..............OSX.......
Eventually, they will meet in the middle and we will have either 2 similar operating systems or simply a mix of the two.
I think Apple thinks that by taking the best of the two worlds they are creating a "better" user experience. I don't know if this is the case but I think that this is clearly the inevitable long-term outcome. Time will tell.
Yes, I want to have the same OS on my phone and my desktop.

You already have a few members in this thread who said they're not eligible.
A number of ineligible donors is not the same as a lack of eligible donors. That's basic logic.

Is there a reason those charts in the opening post have to be so large?
It makes it look like they mean something. Bigger and brighter means more important and more relevant. Having those big, bright graphics in your face helps you ignore the myriad other factors, both prominent and subtle, in the larger picture.

Oh sweet. I thought I might have to go down to the Apple Store on the Plaza. Do you know if they're getting those limited edition Leopard T-Shirts for the first few people who buy it also?

If Adobe priced this for $29.99 on the App Store I would buy it as a companion tool to PS CS5. But I don't think I would be using my fingers to work... I would incorporate a POGO Stylus.
What would be cool is if you could tap your left index finger and then the POGO to enable a "right click" for options.
I would be even more interested in an Illustrator for the iPad!
What I still want though is to be able to shoot tethered to an iPad. Has anyone heard of an app that will allow me to instantly see what I just shot with a tethered DSLR?

Uh oh.....this does not look good....50 people, at least, already online. Well, at least they opened the doors early and took the first ten or so customers. If I make it, and I can get more then one, anyone in the area want me to pick them up one? I take cash for reimbursement....

I am assuming this is a cluster? I seriously doubt that would be enough space for every person to access their iTunes content via the cloud. The only conceivable way is if you were limited to the amount of space (like allocated into your 20GB default mobileme account). That would be weak. The original post doesn't say it will be used for customers to store their own files, only for Apple to store all the video content on the iTunes store. Each video file is only stored once so 12PB is probably more than enough for all the videos they currently have (you'd have to be a pretty lazy data architect not to account for growth in the original plan).
I'm sure they already have a large enough storage system for cloud storage/iDisk, or will be planning to expand or replace one soon.

NBC has a great little sample, violins on television (http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/emilys_editorial_reply/1156891).
It would be stellar if Al Franken would say, "Never mind," in the Senate. That would be funny.

PS: Why do people get their panties in a bunch when I say that certain articles are boring*?
because chiming in like that to an article others find interesting is a juvenile waste of time and bandwidth. its like... i think your mom's boring. relevance? none. nobody cares what random people on the internet think is boring.

So because you don't like Financial Times it's okay for everyone that they are holding out iPad subscriptions. This is exactly what's wrong with you Apple fanboys.
You should be penalizing Apple for allowing this to happen. but instead you jump for joy.
Okay let's look at this clearly shall we? The Financial Times (and they're far from the only one) are complaining NOT because of the subscription fee split but because they loose "the direct relationship with subscribers". To put that into simple English they currently sell their customers information to marketing firms or use the demographic data to sell ads in the FT or related materials.
Now Apple aren't actually stopping that, they're just insisting that customers opt-in to the scheme rather than opt-out (or have no choice at all).
No matter how you look at it Apple is on the side of the consumer here. They're not denying that information to the FT, just trying to make sure consumers can choose whether or not they want that information shared with a third party and, more importantly, that the default is NO. That's a great, positive step forward, frankly ALL such marketing and data selling should be opt-in and very clearly marked and I wish Apple all the best.
