Is there a catch to this deal? Do you have to buy a MiFi and sign up for some sort of data plan?
$299 is ridiculously tempting.

yea, their website looks like it was from 1998...
Least the page is valid code unlike websites from 1998. ;x
Bet my G5 could make a lot of free electricity with that chip. ^^

OS X is great, but if I can render something in 1/3 the time for 1/3 the price, what do you think I'm gonna choose? [/B][/QUOTE]
Sounds like your not using X.2 or a New Mac.
Why do you waste your time on here?
Again, find a better deal than the New dual 867 on the Pc side, I'll buy it.

Interesting story - nice read, especially with all the jokes. Here's another, you could have asked if her Apple offered a service to polish knobs... I mean, iPods. :D
Since efoto was getting his share of lumps about this I'll throw in my tale of woe regarding hitting on retail employees. Back several years ago I would go into this Walgreens (pharmacy/convenient store) fairly often. I had this one cute girl check me out (literally, ring up my order) a few times. I didn't think much of it. She seemed nice, pleasant. I never went there specifically to see her or anything, but when I was there if I did see her it was always a pleasant surprise.
One day I just decided I'd ask her out and I did the usual "I don't normally do this but you seem intriguing... yadda, yadda... would you like to go out sometime, etc". What did I hear back? "Well, I'm getting married next week." :o  :o Yeah... not so much.
That's the price you pay for not being flirty very often, I can't even remember the ground rules. Look for a ring! Man, I felt stupid the few subsequent times I went to that store and she was there. I'm sure she felt awkward as well.
C'est la vie!

I wonder how many turtlenecks he has?
I bet his closet is similar to the closet in the old Nickelodeon cartoon Doug. If anyone was the age to remember, that is.
Every outfit is exactly the same.

Whilst it's good to see Apple gaining some market share there is a part of me that does not want them to gain too much. I worry that if they ever become mass market that they will lose some of their uniqueness.
They still neeed to double or triple their marketshare, atl least. At 5% marketshare, they can still be ignored by many software makers. At 15% or even 20% market share, though, you'll hit some critical point where almost every software maker will port their software to OS X.

after all this hype if iOS 5 is just a small improvement that would be ludicrous.
When has Apple ever made anything more than "just a small improvement"?

You have, of course, argued differently: that the same focal length on the same camera will produce different images. Which is clearly nonsense:
Taken out of context yet again. Congratulations!
EF-S 200mm on a 1.6 crop camera will yield the same image as an EF 200mm on a FF camera. If you put that EF 200 back onto the 1.6 camera, the image is different.
How hard is that to understand?

It's funny how the capitalists are all for a free market...until it starts working against them.
DING DING DING we have a winner.
Yeah, downloads 'might' be less expensive to sell, because you have no B&M store, no packaging, no shipping, etc etc. But downloads have their costs too: servers (lots of them), bandwidth (lots of it), etc etc. Totally different delivery mechanisms, but doesn't automatically mean that one is cheaper than the other to 'deliver'.
Target and Wal-Mart and other big box stores occasionally fight small communities for the free market 'right' to open a store. But they bitch and moan when someone new sells a similar product in a new and innovative way.
Should work both ways, guys - an equal market is an equal market. Unless you want competitors to be less 'equal' than you. (not very eloquent, but you get the drift).
There is a brand new Target open just a couple miles from me... that I haven't been tempted yet to step foot into. Target's stance on this issue seals the deal... I won't be venturing into that shiny brand new store.

Gives us a nice goal to get out of Afghanistan have finished. We got him and destroyed his network ability to launch large attacks. And hopefully put Afghanistan into a position where the moderates will be in control.I very much doubt that Al Qaeda has been dependent on Bin Laden for a very long time, and the day moderates take over from the gangsters who are in control of Afghanistan now is I fear a very long way off.

Don't kid yourself about this "super secret" stuff.Leopard needs some hard work and Apple doesn't care who has it as long as bugs are sent in.Remember the Developer kits?.I had one.The Intel O/S X wasn't supposed to be on any system other than those.
Here comes OSX86Project.org and a couple others OPENLY flaunting installing it on PeeCees.Giving instructions and everything.Apple did nothing about that. They won't do anything about the folks that have it now other than their own employees which gives them bad PR.

yeah, just during the update, they blast off for about 10 seconds, it actually sounds like a small airplane taking off (thankfully my mac pro is secured between my desk and the wall :) )
but NO, the fans are not loud all the time now, they sound just fine, but after the update (according to temperature monitor) they are about 10 degrees F cooler now at idle
That is normal during the installation and prior to the reboot.
