Saw one of these parked up down my road earlier, in my opinion it's the best car on the market today. Amazing looking, so comfortable, and very very fast when they need to be.
First, can you [timg] your pic? It is a little huge.
Second, I like everything about the new XJ.... except how it looks out back. The black D-pillar just really looks out of place. Unless, of course, the car is black itself, and you can't see the contrast. I'm still not sure why they chose to do that, as it just stands out too much. Otherwise, yea, it is a fantastic looking car.

:eek: Japanese Mac users get first OS X-friendly Blu-ray burner from Logitech mid-August (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/08/02/logitec_mac_blu-ray_disc_burner/). Only $1148 folks. :eek: I guess somebody's gotta start somewhere. At least we know they are really almost for sale somewhere on planet Earth. :rolleyes: ;) Comes with Blu-ray version of Toast 7 Titanium.

That would be eighty 50GB Blu-ray discs @ $50 each would be $4,000 for the blank media to record 4 Terabytes. $1,000 per Terabyte Vs. $250 per Terabyte of HD storage. I just don't get the economics of this Blu-ray thing at all. :eek: :confused:

I've been meaning to update my apple tv 2 and iPad to the latest jailbreaks. Come to find out i can't. Every time i go to hit shift + restore to open a restore file in iTunes it doesn't work any more. Did itunes disable this function in the latest itunes update. Im not sure what it could be. I am using a windows keyboard on a Mac but it worked all the other times i did it. i even tried to dfu my iPad and do a restore and had no luck. I went to my pc and it worked fine. The problem is i have to do the ipad on the mac because all my synced stuff is on that iTunes.

youtube just search best, top themes! there are a ton! there are also several threads showing themes apps etc.. if you want to convince them let them play with yours. I love mine but I also feel it's not for everybody. Also if you take jailbreaking away I'm out!

in Applications find 'Terminal' and once it is open put this command in there

Reading through this thread, I was wondering how many people defending the iPad are actually aware of its inherent shortcomings for professional users , and have actually used programs like Photoshop .
The iPad was never meant to be used by professionals, it is not compatible with pro apps and devices on a basic level, like colour spaces, connectivity, file import/export, tethering, to name a few .
As it's been pointed out before, finger gestures are a crutch, not an enhancement, just like they were since the introduction of trackpads .
SJ called the iPad a post-PC computer - nothing could be further from the truth.
It might help to develop better input devices in the future, but right now Apple doesn't seem to be part of it, aiming their products at a retro oriented crowd which is merely asking for simplification, instead of progress.

i do believe the "pros" are missing the point here though. photoshop can be very useful to a lot of people right now.
We don't care about how useful the iPad is to "other" people. Good for them. The iPad is a consumer device designed for the general consuming public and always will be. It will never replace the tools "imaging specialists" need.
The argument seems to be that I need to adopt the iPad and adapt to its shortcomings for my field while waiting for current technology to be included in subsequent versions. And as a pro, if I don't then I'll be left in the dust.

you don't always have access or want to carry the 15 pound camera bag, the 5 pound laptop and the wacom tablet.
Then these people aren't pros. This is what we do. I would sooner shed some weight elsewhere than use a silly-assed iPad instead a laptop with 1 TB of disk storage, SD slot, the CPU to handle multiple loads in PhotoShop, burn the occasional proofs to DVD for a client, etc... And not to mention, the ability to tether with my cameras to the laptop should I need to.

Being an Ohioan, I think I can say that in the current environment -- hysterical Republican budget-hacking -- this just might go through.

Apple does offer something for smaller companies for which a 30% for payment handling might actually be a good deal.
It has been suggested in a number of places that Apple simply underestimated the cost of free apps (to them) and is now trying to claw back revenue where it can (first by allowing in-app purchasing for free apps, something Jobs said would never happen: 'Free apps stay free', then via iAds, then via this subscription service) while at the same time providing a service to its customers (who do not have to enter their creditcard for every in-app purchase or subscription anymore).
The contention only started when Apple made in-App purchases and subscriptions exclusive to their method.
