Since I did my master's here. I think they filed my case under EB1...I need to re-check. If this is the case then how long does it take. Yes I'm an indian.
I doubt if a Masters qualifies for EB1. But if you filed under EB1, then you should be able to file I485 immediately as that category is CURRENT. Check and confirm the category your employers filed and post your question again.

Take infopass appointment, speak to IO and go from there. at the worst case, you will have to reapply and sit tight for 90 days.
Somehow, the place where I live...Phoenix...USCIS does not offer Infopass appointments...any idea what to do then?

I-140 Premium and I-1485 filed concurrently at NSC on June 29th. Received July 2nd. No clue if checks are encashed.
PD: Nov 2002.
H1-B 7th year expiring Dec'07;
8th year extension filed.
Any one in the same boat?
Many of the July 17/18th filers at NSC have got their checks cashed. Maybe yours got transferred to a different center.
Please contribute to IV in either time or money or BOTH.

On Oct 26th, Rep. Tom Davis is going to answer questions.

Hi,
The hotel I stayed was Shalimar, bit expensive about Rs 7000 a day. The hotel is really good with complimentary breakfast buffet. The consulate is walkable distance from the hotel. VFS also offers some facilities, please check with them.
I did not have to pay addition fee because the new fee came in to effect later. I paid the equivalent of $131 for each applicant!

The new fee for H1B (effective June 4th,2010) is $150.

Can we find out the status of namecheck from USCIS or from any FBI website during retrogresssion. I applied 485 an year ago. Can i find out if atleast the name check is cleared even though my PD is not current.
They usually initiate the name check process shortly after filing I-485.
Since yours was filed a year ago, then of course it would be very interesting to know your status regarding the damn name check, retrogression or not.
However, this info is not always easy to get. You might try several ways: call Customer service, make Infopass appointment...In the ultimate case, you will have to ask your Congressman to inquire for you...
I personaly e-mailed USCIS California Center (CSC-XII.485@dhs.gov). What's really weird is that the first two times they responded within a week but the third time, when I "naively" asked if they could expedite that name check, the reply was an automated message:
"we no longer reply to e-mails, for all inquiries call Customer service bla bla bla..."!!!
I suppose I was just lucky the first times! The third time maybe they just got fed up with my "stupid" questions??!!:confused:

Though my in-laws had an early appointment(945am, Chennai Consulate India) last month, they got their PP next day only. So they had to stay one more day in Chennai.

This will also not qualify under EB-2. Your underlying bachelor's degree has to be 4 years equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree. secondly, 4-6 experience is not the same as 5 years of progressive experience.

According to USCIS, finger prints expire within 15 months. So if you received an EAD after filing for I-485, technically USCIS should not ask for your fingerprints during the 1-year EAD renewal. For the second EAD renewal, it is valid.
Asking for FP during e-filing is a process inefficiency for USCIS and unnecessarily delays the application adjudication. For some reason, USCIS is not able to identify that you still have valid finger prints filed last year during the e-filing. Please raise this issue with Ombudsman.

Yes....you can do all those.... even though I cannot see a DESPERATE reason to "shift" to H1-B or to be in the country on H1-B when your actually work status is infact H1-B (even if enetered on AP) and your immigration status is parolee.
