It's funny how the capitalists are all for a free market...until it starts working against them.
DING DING DING we have a winner.
Yeah, downloads 'might' be less expensive to sell, because you have no B&M store, no packaging, no shipping, etc etc. But downloads have their costs too: servers (lots of them), bandwidth (lots of it), etc etc. Totally different delivery mechanisms, but doesn't automatically mean that one is cheaper than the other to 'deliver'.
Target and Wal-Mart and other big box stores occasionally fight small communities for the free market 'right' to open a store. But they bitch and moan when someone new sells a similar product in a new and innovative way.
Should work both ways, guys - an equal market is an equal market. Unless you want competitors to be less 'equal' than you. (not very eloquent, but you get the drift).
There is a brand new Target open just a couple miles from me... that I haven't been tempted yet to step foot into. Target's stance on this issue seals the deal... I won't be venturing into that shiny brand new store.

Lol the majority of comments on this story... Jealous!!!
This dude showed fantastic initiative!
And i'd say his markup is more near 50% than 10-15%.
A friend of mine actually does iPhone 4 repairs (on the blacks)- as Apple doesnt cover dropping and shattering your phone- and i believe the units, which are expensive as one cannot just replace the glass but also the LCD + digitizer on ip4, cost him around $100 and he fits them within up to half an hour for 200$.
Depending on how you react to the price you may get a 'discount' of 20%.
9/10 dont care just want their baby back lol:apple::D

Either way I don't care what the end use is if the US army take apple on i'll be put of buying Apple stuff. It's purely political!
The Army already uses Apple stuff. So I guess you'll never buy Apple.
Or Microsoft. Or Linux. Heck, the Army uses almost everything you can think of. Including electronics from probably every company you've heard of.
While you're at it, better check the tags in your clothes. And don't eat boxed or canned or frozen foods either, those companies also make military rations.
As a child of the 50s and 60s, I sympathize with your politics. As an Army veteran, I can tell you that you're barking up the wrong tree. Fight the politicians who go to war, not the war materials or their users... because there are times that you will really need them, and need them to be the best.

There is simply no reason why T-Mobile could not have shared the spectrum with AT&T since other countries have independent competitors doing exactly that. See my post about concerning Canada and look at the UK and continental Europe.

It's sold out already!
I just saw that when I got home from work to buy my ticket.
Pretty upset about this one...

I'm not buying a tablet until there is one that runs mac OS X (the modbook is too expensive) :D
I'm still a firm believer tablet computers need to come with the following to be considered "standard":
1) Soliataire
2) Minesweaper
3) Disk Defrag
4) A CD Burner
Other than that I do think Woz's comments were right on the money.

Sometimes I get the feeling that there are only interns working on .mac
I always assumed it was monkeys, so I guess interns would be a step up.
Yeah, for a $99/yr offering, it's stunningly meager.

I built a table that links directly to bestbuy, walmart and target (http://kiernanvandoorn.wordpress.com/2011/04/01/where-in-the-world-can-i-buy-an-ipad2-now/) to check inventory levels. it helps, but with very little supply there isn't any good news hiding on the back shelf. And there are horror stories all over the next about bad practices like forcing customers to buy service protection plans just to buy from existing inventory. I am very happy with my 13.3" MBA with 2 USB ports. But I have to admit, I am envious of the potential experience with the lightning fast Thunderbolt I/O in the latest MBP.
I started without Backlit Keyboard, and I am cool with that (although not as much elegant-looking, it saves unnecessary battery power).
And yes, I'd like to see a microfibre cloth included in the box! It's just too cheap yet important for any MBA users!

SwitchtoaMac provides (http://switchtoamac.com/site/apples-mac-os-market-share-spikes-to-521-percent-up-35-percent-year-over-year-growth-accelerates.html) a breakdown of recent marketshare data from Net Applications.
Apple's total market share numbers represents percent of new sales for the time period defined. Based on the numbers, Apple has seen significant gains in marketshare in 2006 as compared to 2005. Apple's marketshare hovered between 3.3%-3.8% for much of but since November of has seen a rise into 4.1-4.7% marketshare, with October ending with a 5.21% marketshare.
Of course, Apple's last year has been marked by a switch to the Intel processors, so an increase in sales could represent a large portion of Mac owners upgrading to the newest Mac models. As a result, future sales numbers will be important to see if this trend continues.

The above three posts are my best effort translating. That PC guy talks insanely fast. ;)
A very nice job on the translations. Besides generally knowing what they were saying (as everyone else could, since we knew the English), I couldn't pick up anywhere close to what you got. However, on the "uiurus" one, the second to last line should start
???
??
Anyway, as I was rolling thru the posts, I saw that someone already identified the "art of eating sushi" video they did. If anyone cares, they are a comedy duo called Ramens ???? and they have another video that is google-able about the art of apologizing. Not as good, but still funny. There are also a couple of other Flash(?) skits they do (at least it sounds like them...it is just (minimal) animation) riffing on Tokyo train station names (called kyoubashi ??) and on prefecture names (ibaraki ??) that are amusing. Especially if you see yourself in that particular language class.

But I agree in theory that we can cut down greatly on how much we drive. And higher gas prices will do that(which is good, even if we don't make as much off taxes as you would if driving levels stay the same)
The new wave of urban living will help too. If people don't have driving as an option because of price, or have it less, interest in public transit but also walking and biking will increase due to natural market pressures. However, many towns and cities in the US will have a major infrastructural gap because they have so many roads that are not cyclist / pedestrian friendly. They will likely change due to economic pressure, but cities investing in walkability now will be well poised to grow when/if such a time comes.

If you don't want to do it though, just don't use it. Simple as that. Always has been, always will.
"Don't want to do it? Then don't do it."but I have to! If I don't then who is going to complain and whine about it?

This new location feature is screaming "Im not at home, please break into my house!"
I agree; It's way too easy for people with bad intentions to know the best times to break into your home.
