My buddy posted this (http://noeruiz.com/white-iphone-4-not-thicker/), and I tried to tell Engadget -- they wouldn't hear it.

    Kind of ridiculous.

I don't disagree with you at all. He did the same thing at an EU summit on e-commerce.

As others already said, this was meant to be an INFORMAL dinner and by no means constitutes disrespect of any national or foreign authority. If there was any specific dress code (like in the Oscars, smart casual, formal attire etc.), protocol would have informed SJ.

Besides, he was not wearing shorts, flip-flops or anything of the kind...and what others were wearing (like a tieless shirt in the case of Mr. Zuckercrap) was not much better anyway...so relax, please.

I am alarmed at the growth rate of Microsoft in the space of your post. One company is more than enough.

If he meant it in British English, he is correct...

MACBANDIT [B]I don't know how many of you have actually spent time on a dual ghz mac but they are blazing fast. I currently own and am using a dual ghz/DDR and this thing flys with everything.

I agreed with you. The new dual ghz is FAST, but the noise in the hot summer day. I can use my new Powermac as heater in the winter season. :)

This baby can heat up your room nice and warm!:) if you are looking for heater and something to compute, Apple dual is a machine to get!

I asked a girl (similar to your situation) for her number and she said, "What for?" LOL. :o
    - Need to verify your age and marital status and check out your high school photo and credit rating online before I invest in a dinner and a movie
    - National security reasons.
    - Need to check the meter on your photocopier.
    - Have a high return, surefire investment proposition on some vacation property I'd like to discuss with you.
    - Identity theft.

Has apple ever officially responded to any false marketing claims they may have accidentally stated? For example - them stating their macbook pro battery life lasts X amount of time, however it really lasts X -3 hours.. and they've responded in an official capacity?

Battery life isn't really anything you can debate, as it largely depends on use, brightness and so many other variables. That's why Apple says "up to x hours".

What other false marketing are you referring to? There has been some in the past, but I can't recall anything recent.

Why? How could a Republican possibly be any kind of improvement? The last Republican president really lowered the bar, and the current president has imperceptibly raised it, it can only get worse. Either way, really.

What has Obama really done besides go on vacation for the last few years? How the hell has he raised any bar? Tell me what all he promised to do and then tell me exactly how many of those things he has accomplished so far.

A little off topic, but question for those who need Office software, and also run Parallels/Fusion: Do you prefer Office For Mac, or do you prefer to run "regular" Office in Parallels/Fusion? Thanks.

I have Office 2011 for Mac and Office 2010 for Windows which I run in VMWare Fusion (got both for $9.95 each through Microsoft's Home Use Program). I much prefer Excel 2010 in Windows but Word 2011 and PowerPoint 2011 for Mac are fine.

There are a few good spoofs of the "I'm A Mac" commercials on You Tube. My favorite is the one where Mac and PC both make fun of Linux Guy:)

While I don't see anything that specifically mentions thunderbolt other than Macrumors' own speculation, I would find it hard to believe this wouldn't include it if it were to see the light of day. the 30 pin dock is a BIG connector- plenty of real-estate for a next-gen version to incorporate all of these standards from the looks of it.

    My questions are:

    Will it be backwards-compatible

Obviously you'll need to buy different cables according to what the other end is plugging into (Thunderbolt or USB 2/3)....but will apple include both or charge $25 for the other one?

It's smart to include USB 3, especially on "iToys", as it will eventually become the standard. The only way to avoid it would be to stop putting USB ports on their computers all together, and that will alienate all of their non-mac "iToy" customers (probably the majority).

Hard not to see the iPad 2 as a great product, even for CU. I'm surprised they didn't find something that would prevent them from recommending it.

Why? Because their honesty in reporting offends fanbois when they disagree?

Why do you say 2000 people is not a large enough sample? Do you know statistical sampling methods?

I'm not saying this survey isn't flawed... just sample size doesn't have to be that large.

It seems that most people are not aware of the fact that 30 is large enough sample for almost any population, and that the main challenge is not in increasing the sample size, it's in making it truly random.

Wow, the Japanese Justin looks about a thousand years old. Would you wear that hoodie if you were past 30? I think the actor didn't show up and they had to get the director to be in it. I can't wait for the Gisele one.

    Retina Display
backlit keyboard Option (so everyone who wants to have it can have it)
    bigger SSD drives
    faster/newer processor
    upgradable Ram

Now that is something to lol at :p
    Not if you have this
Ignoring current situations and if I could have it any way I want:

    Macbook Air 11.6''

    - Intel I5 ULV, 6mb FSB

    - Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M

    - SD Card Slot

    - Thunderbolt Port in ADDITION to 2 USB ports.

    - Get rid of the bezel around the screen and either make the screen slightly larger or make it black edge similar to MBP.

I would just settle for the i5 and Nvidia chip. As for the collapsable ethernet port... moving parts? ew.

Mine downloaded and installed perfectly, but when I launch the display is all f-ed up and I can't operate any of the UI except typing my account name and using the "Quit" and "Manage Account" buttons. This seems to be a total bust on my old system...

It's using 110% of my CPU while the finder is using 70% of CPU according to the Activity Monitor. How is that even possible? LOL

Funny that Motorola had to add a few more pipelines just to have the G4 catch up to the Pentium 4. Sorry bud, in pure performance, the Pentium 4 2.8GHz and Athlon XP 2.13GHz 2600+ has got it beat. *IF* the G4 was at ~2.x GHz, sure it'd beat the Pentium 4, but the fastest one is 1.25GHz. Dual 1.25 GHz != 2.5GHz in real world so, as pointed by the "benchmarks," Approximately 2.25 GHz G4 (1.25x2) performs just as good as a single Pentium 4 2.8GHz. There are also *A LOT* other things that contribute to performance other than just the stupid pipelines. Memory controller, bus, pretty much anything.

Right now, the G4 simply sucks. We need the G5 or the new IBM PowerPC. G4 isn't living up to its expectations unless Motorola has performed some miracle to boost the G4 to 3GHz overnight. That ain't happening, either. The best G4 Motorola has ever done was the 7410. Those Dual 533MHzs kicked other arses!

On the other hand, for productivity, the Macintosh experience is the simply best and fastest, but as a research computer, I'll take a quad Xeon running FreeBSD 5.0 for the price of a high end Power Mac G4, thank you. Otherwise, if I want to get my **** done, I'll simply buy an iMac 800MHz with the best desktop OS.

Here are some photos I took at the launch... I resized them to 350px as the forum script was re-encoding them and they had horrible JPEG artefacts over the thumbnails previously.
